NANA Services provides quality food and janitorial
services, recreational management, and housing
and housekeeping for the U.S. stations on
the Antarctic continent. The National Science
Foundation is serviced by Raytheon, their prime
contractor and NANA Services is a subcontractor
to Raytheon. In addition to managing quality of life
programs, NANA Services selects, mobilizes and manages all of the
employees needed to run them. The workforce is also
adjusted as needed to accommodate the seasonal growth
at the McMurdo and South Pole stations. Operations
needs fluctuate from approximately 200 to 1200 personnel
to 50 to 200 personnel, respectively. This operation is
managed from Antarctica and NANA Services offices in
Denver, Colorado.
